As we’re hitting the last month of summer, it can be difficult to say farewell to camping. Camping, however, does not need to be a summer-exclusive activity, especially if you’re a fan of the RV lifestyle. We have put together a list of campsites that are open year-round. If you’re looking to keep camping going year-round, make sure to check out some of these fantastic campsites!

Many RVs are well equipped to be used in the winter months, and with a few tweaks and tuneups, you can prepare your RV for a great winter camping experience. Things to consider for winter camping include changing over to winter tires, making sure your sanitation and water is all winter-ready, checking that your heaters work and your insulation is in tip-top condition. 1. Spring Hill RV Park

Spring Hill RV Park is a beautiful RV park that is open all year round. Not only do their campsites come fully equipped with either 30 or 50 amp sites and firepits and picnic tables at every site, but there are tons of area attractions as well. This campsite is only 15 minutes away from Ghost Lake, there are plenty of golf courses in the area, Wi-Fi, a Liquor store and convenience store, gas station, showers and laundry, and a playground! If you’re looking into Fall and Winter camping this year, Spring Hill RV Park is a great choice!

2. Longriders RV Park

Longriders RV Park is a fantastic RV park that is open all year. Located in Gibbons, AB, the campsite is only 15 minutes from Fort Saskatchewan, 25 minutes to Sherwood Park, and 35 minutes from West Edmonton Mall. This gives you access to plenty of fantastic indoor amenities. Have the fun camping experience in the winter, but with lots of activities to keep you inside. Longriders RV Park sits have free Wi-Fi, propane services, fire pits and firewood, showers and laundry, and access to hiking trails and on and off leash parks for pets!

3. Camp’n Class RV Park

If you’re hoping to travel even closer to home, Camp’n Class RV Park is a great little spot to park your and have a winter camping experience — and it’s located only 10 minutes from Grove RV! The campgrounds are a gated property for extra security, and they have RV pads, power sites, laundry service, showers, and cable television. Being in Stony Plain, there is plenty of access to great attractions, restaurants, stores and more! If you want to brave winter camping but don’t want to get too far from home, Camp’n Class RV Park is a great option!

4. Westerner Campground

Location: 4847 19 St, Red Deer, AB T4R 2N7

 

Westerner Campground is a wonderful year-round campsite. Their sites include 15, 30, or 50 amp electrical services and sewer and water. They have 38 fully winterized sites, so they’re a great place to visit if you want to try winter camping! There’s also Wi-Fi throughout the entire campground, laundry, and washrooms available! Just south of Red Deer, this campground has access to all city has to offer like restaurants, shopping, recreation centres, hiking and biking trails, and beautiful greenspaces. Westerner Campground is an amazing combination of high quality sites, urban amenities, and natural amenities!

5. McLean Creek Campground

Location: 285 McLean Creek Trail, Bragg Creek, AB T0L 0K0

 

McLean Creek Campground features large, services campgrounds, with 170 campsites suitable for winter camping. Amenities include an amphitheatre, water, firepits, sewage disposal, and playground. The campground is surrounded by kilometres of hiking trails and other outdoor activities in the foothills. Located close to Bragg Creek, you’re right between Banff and Calgary, so you get a much more immersive nature experience than many of the other year-round campsites.
